Empower Salon Gives $1,000 to Sweet Friend Foundation’s Pumpkin Pals Program

There’s something special about a pumpkin in autumn. It’s a small thing, really—but for a child, bringing home a pumpkin can mean so much. It’s a chance to participate in the fun of the season and bring a little fall magic home.

That’s why we’re so grateful to announce that Empower Salon in St. Petersburg has donated $1,000 to Sweet Friend Foundation’s Pumpkin Pals program.

Each fall, Pumpkin Pals provides pumpkins to children to Pinellas County public schools, helping make sure that every child has the opportunity to enjoy a little of the season.

For Empower, sponsoring Pumpkin Pals is about something bigger than pumpkins.

“Giving back to our community has always been incredibly important to us,” Kerri Maphis, co-founder and co-owner of Empower shared. “What we love about Sweet Friend Foundation is that the impact stays right here in St. Pete, supporting local children, schools, teachers and families.”

That commitment to community is at the heart of Empower Salon, a women-owned, community-focused salon located on 4th Street North in St. Petersburg.

“We believe being part of a community means more than simply doing business in it—it means showing up for the people and kids who make it home,” Kerri continued. “We’re grateful to support the work Sweet Friend Foundation is doing and to play even a small part in that impact.”

We couldn’t agree more.

At Sweet Friend Foundation, we believe that small moments of joy matter. A pumpkin may seem like a simple gift, but when hundreds of children receive one, those small moments add up. They become memories, smiles, classroom celebrations, and something fun to take home and share with family.

Empower understands that community connection can—and should—extend beyond the walls of a business.

Their $1,000 gift will help put pumpkins into the hands of St. Petersburg-area public school children this fall—and help make the season a little brighter for families right here in our community.
